Remit
Our Words of Faith: Cherished, Honoured and
Living
This is the study document for a Remit from the 40th General
Council. The Remit will be before the Presbyteries and Pastoral Charges in Jan.
2012 and it asks us to renew our self-understanding as a Reformed community of
faith. It tests our willingness to adopt into the Basis of Union the "1940
Statement of Faith," “A New Creed” and “A Song of Faith.” Oxford Presbytery will
be creating a “Facilitated Learning Circle” in order to give all Presbyters an
opportunity to study this remit proposal with the leadership of Michael
Bourgeois, professor of theology at Emmanuel College and chair of the Theology
and Faith Committee of the United Church during the preparation of "A Song of
Faith." The circle is open to all. The “Learning Circle” will meet during the
month of May 2011. The ‘kick off' day is Sat. April 30th, 10 am to 3 pm with
Michael, then further gatherings or “on line” community discussions during May
and a wind up session June 4th 10am to lunch “on line” with Michael.
To Study this Remit the School has set-up a learning circle,
starting April 30th., click below for more details.
